Greetings from Mount Carmel College of Teacher Education for Women!!!

It is my privilege to welcome you all to this great wall of teaching and learning during the Platinum Jubilee Year 2022-2023. Mount Carmel College of Teacher Education for Women is one of the pioneers and First Govt. Aided Teacher’s Training institution of Kerala state, established in the year 1953. The Foundress of the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (CSST) Congregation, Mother Teresa of St. Teresa of Lima envisions a life-oriented education that empowers the women teacher trainees in their academic excellence, self- confidence, self-respect, spiritual well-being, moral values, civic responsibility, leadership qualities, character building and wholesome personality development.

The mission of our institution is to provide quality, integral education in life, vocation and career oriented, thereby promoting a climate for human and academic excellence with an openness to learning, research, and the development of professional skills, so as to work towards the empowerment of women and transformation of society. The institution maintains a tradition of inculcating moral and human values in the minds of the student teachers.

Mount Carmel College of Teacher Education for Women, Kottayam was affiliated to University of Kerala till 1983 and later on affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam from 1984 onwards and Re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ Grade. Our institution offers 2 years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in the Aided stream with 50 students in each year and 2 years Master of Education (M.Ed.) in the Unaided stream with 50 students in each year. Also, we are providing Add on Courses namely: (1) 1 year Diploma Course in Computer Application, (2) Certificate course in Guidance and Counselling for B. Ed students and (3) 6 months Certificate Course in Tailoring for marginalized women and children in the local society.

With much pleasure and pride, I would like to appreciate our dedicated faculty members, who are responsible in moulding and motivating our women teacher trainees to attain self-confidence, who are ready to face the challenges in traditional as well as in digital teaching and learning. The institution is also having a committed and selfless working non-teaching staff, who plays a major role in office administration. I am very much happy to appreciate the faculty members of our digitalized Library, which consists more than 25000 Books, Journals, E-Journals, Magazines, Newspapers etc.

With deep respect and gratitude, I acknowledge the support of the Management Board of Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (CSST), stakeholders of our college, faculty members, administrative staff, parents, retired principals and staff members, alumnae, students and all other well-wishers who have supported us to uphold the values of our institution for the development of quality education as well as empowerment of women and children in the society for the promotion of civilization of love and humaneness.

A good education can change anyone and a good teacher is like a candle, who can change everything. I believe in you all and know that all of you will do well in the academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to show case your talents. Find a new passion for life and ignite the fire that burns within you. Stay safe, be healthy and enjoy your college to the fullest. You all will do great! Good luck for the first year of your B.Ed. programme course!!
